Tres tama\u00f1os est\u00e1n disponibles para ajustar el di\u00e1metro interno del tubo traqueal y la gu\u00eda con el fin de evitar un impacto sobre los cart\u00edlagos aritenoides (1). La gu\u00eda est\u00e1 fabricada de un material suave para una mejor tolerancia del paciente. Cuando se utiliza como marcador de posici\u00f3n para la extubaci\u00f3n puede dejarse in situ hasta que se considere improbable la necesidad de una reintubaci\u00f3n (2, 3). Mantener el acceso a la v\u00eda a\u00e9rea aumenta la probabilidad de \u00e9xito en caso de que sea necesario reintubar al paciente con una v\u00eda a\u00e9rea dif\u00edcil (4).
